John Luther Adams: The Light That Fills the World

When you read the biography on his website, John Luther Adams would have you know that his “life and work are deeply rooted in the natural world.” He lived for many years in Alaska. If you can imagine what it might be like to see light gradually sweeping through the vast frozen expanses of that region, you’ll have a good starting point for this piece of music.

Performed by Marty Walker (bass clarinet), Amy Knoles (vibraphone & marimba), Bryan Pezzone (piano), Nathaniel Reichman (electronic keyboard), Robin Lorentz (violin), and Barry Newton (double bass) (13 minutes)
